A Brief History of Art in Myanmar

In the field of Myanmar culture, painting is one of the arts out of the
' Ten Traditional Arts and Crafts'. Paintings, here, means to say the art of paintings and drawing using paint or oil.
According to the culture, there are ten traditional arts and crafts, such as..
1. Babe' (Craft of blacksmithing).
2. Badein (art of making ornamental articles made of gold).
3. Badin (art of making items cast or wrought from bronze, copper or brass).
4. Pan:do (art of making decorative works in relief with stucco).
5. Pan:tamo (art of stone sculpture).
6. Pan:jan (art of masonary).
7. Babu (art of carving wood or ivy. Wood curving, Ivy curving).
8. Panbu' (craft of turnery).
9. Bagyi (art of painting).
10. Pan:jun (art of making lacquer ware). 

The history of Myanmar art of painting may be considered under the following aspects.

(D) Painting in Colonial Times, ( Pre-War Era and Post-war Era ).
